Executive Bios
VISTA Staffing Solutions is the physician staffing division of On Assignment, Inc., one of the largest healthcare and scientific staffing companies in the US. VISTA provides hospitals, medical practices and government agencies throughout the US, Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, and Canada with highly qualified physicians who have chosen to work in temporary positions, from a few weeks to a year or more. VISTA also provides permanent physician search and consulting services.
VISTA is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah with additional offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Cary, North Carolina. The division employs more than 160 people.
VISTA Staffing Solutions was founded in 1990 by Mark S. Brouse, president, and Clarke Shaw, senior vice president.
Christian Rutherford
President, VISTA Staffing Solutions
Christian Rutherford is president of VISTA Staffing Solutions, On Assignment’s physician staffing division. Rutherford is an 18-year veteran of the U.S. staffing industry. Among his previous positions, Rutherford held senior leadership roles at CompHealth, the largest locum tenens company in the nation, and served as president of Weatherby Locums, the second largest privately held locum tenens company in the nation. Most recently, Rutherford served as chief operating officer and board member of Medfinders, a large, national healthcare staffing company, which was successfully sold to AMN Healthcare in the 4th quarter of 2010. Rutherford has been serving as a management consultant to On Assignment since January 2011.
Clarke W. Shaw
Executive Vice President
Clarke W. Shaw is responsible for VISTA's US locum tenens operations, overseeing physician recruitment, credentials review, licensure, scheduling, territory management, and national accounts management. In this broad role he specializes in identifying the information employees and customers need to do their jobs most effectively and making that information easily accessible.
He received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Utah in 1978, and served as president of Wave, Inc., a soft-goods manufacturing company for 10 years, before joining CompHealth. In 1990, he launched VISTA Staffing Solutions with co-founders Katie Hoffman-Abby and Mark Brouse. Clarke is a member of the public relations/marketing committee of the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations (NALTO). He is the coach of a state-champion boy's competitive soccer team in Salt Lake City.
Lori Douglas
Senior Vice President of Operations
Lori Douglas joined VISTA in 1990. She became the Vice President of Operations in 2005, overseeing licensing, credentialing, quality assurance/risk management, and coordination with VISTA medical directors. Lori is a member of the legislative committee of the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations (NALTO) and past chair of the organization’s arbitration committee. As Senior Vice President of Operations, Lori’s role has expanded to include overseeing the company’s locum tenens teams serving surgery, anesthesiology, family medicine, and internal medicine subspecialties. She will also continue to oversee the company’s physician licensing and credentialing divisions.
Nick J. Daskalas
Vice President, Human Resources and Shared Services
Nick J. Daskalas oversees Human Resources, Risk Management, and other areas serving internal and external clients and physicians. He has a B.S. in Business and an M.B.A. degree with an emphasis in finance and marketing. In 2006 Nick received the American Hospital Association CPHRM (Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Management) designation. He is a member of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) and ASHRM (American Society for Healthcare Risk Management). Prior to joining VISTA Nick worked in the securities industry and managed an office of securities brokers in Tucson, Arizona. He is politically active, helping organize people of different political persuasions to become involved locally.
Jay Williams
Vice President of Marketing and Strategy
Jay Williams joined VISTA as Vice President of Marketing and Strategy in November of 2011. Jay has held a wide range of sales, business development, and marketing leadership roles. He most recently served as the marketing strategy lead for McCann Worldgroup where he consulted on global brand and digital marketing initiatives for Verizon and Microsoft. Other previous management experience includes MarketStar Corporation, a global provider of outsourced sales and marketing talent, and 3Com Corporation, a networking manufacture that was acquired by HP in 2010.
