Opportunity Highlights

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday with the possibility of occasional weekends. Shifts: 8, 10, or 12 hours (Mon-Fri); 12 or 16 hours (Sat & Sun) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Start date: September 1, 2026 – Ongoing.
  • Job Setting: Multiple facility locations including:
    • St. Mary's Medical Center – 344-bed tertiary hospital, Level I Trauma Center (new facility opened July 2023)
    • Essentia Health Surgery Center-Miller Hill – 4 ORs
    • St. Mary's Hospital Superior, WI – 2 ORs and 2 Endo Suites (~90% outpatient surgery)
    • Essentia Health-Duluth – 165 beds, 11 ORs (~80% outpatient cases)
    • Outpatient Endoscopy Center
  • Types of Cases: 1-2 longer cases or 3-4 shorter cases per 8-hour day on average. Busy surgical schedule including all but transplants and pediatric hearts. Cases include: Cardiac, Complete Ortho, Complex Vascular, Head/Spine, Neuro, OB, Pediatric, Regional, and Thoracic. One-to-one patient care providing anesthesia in operating rooms, Cath lab, GI, EP, MRI, and CT as needed. Caring for all patient age groups at a Level I Trauma Center.

    • Regional Anesthesia Surgery
    • Obstetrical Cases
    • Neurosurgical Cases (Head & Spine)
    • Open Heart Anesthesia
    • Thoracic Cases (except open heart)
    • Complex Vascular Cases (except open heart)
    • Complex Orthopedic Cases
    • Ventilation Management
    • Evaluation and Management of Acute Volume/BP Issues
    • Arterial Line Placement
  • Credentialing: Estimated credentialing timeframe: 45-120 days.

Minimum Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible: Board Certified required. Certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA); or graduate of an accredited school of nurse anesthesia awaiting initial certification.
  • Certifications: Current certification in CPR, BCLS/ACLS required.
  • Licensure: Must be a graduate (Master's or Doctorate) of an accredited school of anesthesia. Current licensure (or ability to obtain) as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist in Minnesota.
