Physician – Emergency Medicine in Texas

Are you an Emergency Medicine physician searching for your next locum tenens opportunity? This position with one of VISTA's healthcare partners in Texas might be the perfect fit for you!
Opportunity Highlights
- Schedule: Approximately 50 shifts per month available; minimum commitment of 5 shifts per month. 24-hour physician coverage daily. Shift times: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM. No call required. Coverage beginning October 2026.
- Job Setting: Freestanding Emergency Department
- Types of Cases: Emergency Medicine
- Credentialing: Standard privileging timeframe: 60-90 days. Onsite hospital orientation required. EPIC proficiency test-out available; EPIC training required if test-out not completed. Completion of Genesis online modules required. Fit test required. OB Hypertension & Postpartum Hemorrhage training (via UpToDate) required.
Minimum Requirements
- Board Certified/Board Eligible: EM or FM residency trained. Accepted boards: ABEM, AOBEM, ABFM (ABFM physicians must have at least 2 years of ED experience at facilities with annual volumes of 10,000+ visits). ABPS not accepted.
- Certifications:
- EM Board Certified physicians: Initial ATLS required (does not need to remain current).
- Non-boarded EM and FM physicians: Current ATLS and ACLS required.
- Immunization Requirements: Hepatitis B series or positive titer; MMR series or positive titer; Tdap within the last 10 years; Varicella series or positive titer; TB screening within the last year; Flu vaccine required during flu season.
- Licensure: Active Texas license required.
