Physician – Obstetrics / Gynecology – Hospitalist in Minnesota

Opportunity Highlights

  • Schedule: 24-hour in-house hospital call, 7a-7a; 12-hour shifts can also be accommodated
  • Job Setting: Inpatient OB Hospitalist
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Duration: Ongoing
  • Types of Cases:
    • High-risk OB patient population; more than 90% of the Maternal Placental Program (MPP) census requires MFM involvement or management
    • Approximately 11-12 deliveries per day
    • Level II nursery
    • OB Hospitalist role primarily covers the MFM service and its patients, along with availability for urgent OB needs and emergencies on the unit
    • Assists other OB providers with C-sections and other obstetrical procedures
    • CVICU deliveries generally performed by MFM physicians; ICU deliveries typically managed by OB Hospitalists/Generalists with MFM and ICU team support
    • Co-management of patients with MFM specialists; labor and delivery coverage included
    • Coverage for undoctored or unassigned OB patients 
    • OB only (primarily high risk); no GYN for OBH shifts
    • No residents to supervise
    • CNM coverage is part of the workflow
    • 24/7 access to Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists (MFM in-house during the day; MFM on call at night)
    • Open to generalists interested in high-risk OB with full MFM support
  • Documentation System: Epic (called Excellian at Allina); Obix for electronic fetal monitoring
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not Required
  • Credentialing: 90-120 days

Minimum Requirements

  • Board Certified Obstetrics / Gynecology 
  • Certifications: BLS 
  • Licensure: Minnesota license highly preferred; if no MN license, IMLC is required
  • Experience: Trauma Level I or II experience required
