Physician – Oncology – Hematology / Oncology in California

Are you a Hematology/Oncology physician searching for your next locum tenens opportunity? This position with one of VISTA's healthcare partners in California might be the perfect fit for you!

Opportunity Highlights

  • Schedule: Full-time need; Monday-Friday 8:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm (8 hours/day guaranteed); 1-hour unpaid lunch. Provider minimum of 4 weeks per month. Overtime applies after 10 hours/day (pre-approval required). Providers are on call 1 out of every 3 weeks — weeknight beeper call in the evenings and 24-hour beeper call on weekends. Phone response only; no on-site call-back required.
  • Job Setting: Inpatient and Outpatient; Clinic and Call. Oncology clinic is attached to the chemo treatment center and the hospital. COC accredited program managing approximately 500 analytic cases each year.
  • Patient Encounters Per Shift: 12-15
  • Credentialing Timeframe: 60-90 days. If the provider has a clean file, temporary privileges may be pursued for an earlier start. Providers with settlements, DUIs/drug issues, restrictions, terminations, or Medical Board actions are not eligible for temporary privileges.
  • Start Date: October 1, 2026 – Ongoing

Minimum Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible: Board Certified required; Board Eligible considered for providers within 3-5 years of residency. Fellowship required.
  • Certifications: BLS required.
  • Licensure: Active CA license required. Active DEA required.
  • Additional Requirements: Two years of current inpatient hospital clinical activity in the specialty required for privileges. Two years of inpatient case logs required at time of credentialing. Gaps greater than 3 months in clinical activity must be explained. Current CV must be uploaded to bid.
