Physician – Surgery – General Surgery in Alabama

Opportunity Highlights

  • Schedule: 10/9/2026 at 7:00 AM CST through 10/11/2026 at 7:00 AM CST (48-hour call coverage)
  • Job Setting: Inpatient; 200-bed facility 
  • Types of Cases:
    • Call coverage only – no clinic; covers inpatient consults and emergency room
    • General Surgery (Adult required; Pediatric preferred)
    • Trauma Surgery (Level 3 Trauma Center)
    • Laparoscopic Surgery: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernioplasty, Nissen Fundoplication
    • Chest wall/pleural procedures; Chest tube insertion
    • Central line insertion
    • Vascular Surgery: Vascular access devices required; Aneurysm repairs, Arterial bypass, Peripheral, AV shunt preferred
    • GI Endoscopy (Upper & Lower, including Sigmoidoscopy and Colonoscopy) – preferred
    • Liver surgery – preferred
    • PA Catheter placement – preferred
    • Laser certification – preferred
    • Call Type: Beeper (30-minute response time required)
    • Call Ratio: 1:6 | Call Back: 15% | Phone Consults: ~10/shift | Patients Seen: ~20/shift
    • EMR: Cerner
  • Credentialing: Estimated 30-day credentialing timeframe; temporary privileges available; malpractice insurance provided by vendor

Minimum Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible: Board Certified or Board Eligible required
  • Certifications: ACLS required; BLS required
  • Licensure: Must be licensed in Alabama or IMLC
